We have selected some questions that might come into your mind when booking a motorcycle. Here at Give It A Gas we know that feeling safe and confident is very important. Considering so, we created this section to help you out along this experience with our motorbikes.
What are the age requirements for renting a motorcycle in Australia?
Here at Give It A Gas we require you to be older than 18 years and have held a valid license for a minimum of 1 year.
If younger than 25 years you’ll need to pay an additional young rider surcharge. Riders over 25 pay lower fees considering statistical risks.
Do I need a special license to rent a motorcycle in Australia?
For Australian licenses:
Valid License: You must have a valid motorcycle license (Class R or L).
For Provisory licenses (P platers) surcharge is applied.
Proof of Address: If address is up to date on your license, bring a document that proves your current address. This may include a utility bill or official correspondence with your residential address.
For Foreigner Licenses (overseas):
Valid Licence: Foreign visitors must possess a valid driving licence suitable for the motorbike category they wish to rent. Same category you’re allowed to ride on your country is valid here in Victoria within 6 months of your arrival.
Translation: If license not written in english
Valid Passport: Your passport will serve as identification when renting a motorbike from us. Make sure it is not expired.
Can I rent a motorcycle if I’m from overseas?
Yes, international riders can rent motorcycles in Australia as long as they meet the age and license requirements. Make sure to bring your Translation (if your license isn’t in English) and check if your country’s license is recognized in Australia. The same rules applied to your license in your country are valid here within 6 months of your arrival
Can I rent a motorcycle without paying a deposit?
Security deposit or bond are a guarantee we have in case of any unforeseen circumstances that happen to you (theft, crash or drop) and could be used to cover the material damage cause on the bike or assessories.
This deposit is held on your credit card and refunded within 7 days when the bike is returned in same conditions as given.
So, no. This is a non-negotiable condition and we won’t be renting without a guarantee to avoid further problems.
Is insurance included in the rental price?
The prices included comprehensive insurance, but you’ll need to pay an excess (deductible) in the event of damage – crash, drop – or theft to activate the insurance. You can purchase additional coverage to reduce the excess and/or breakdown assistance.
Are there any restrictions on where I can ride the motorcycle?
Yes, there are restrictions. Off-road riding or riding on dirt tracks are more likely to have accident. Concidering this higher risk, we do not allow our vehicles to be taken to these raods.
If this happen, extra fees will be applied to cover material damages on the motorbike.
What happens if the motorbike is damaged, dropped or stolen?
If the bike is damaged, dropped or stolen, you’ll be liable for the insurance excess amount. You can reduce this liability by opting for additional insurance.

Are there any restrictions on riding the motorcycle at night?
Due to safety concerns, especially in remote areas. we would not recommend you to ride along the night. The road might not have proper lighting and vehicles coming from other directions may impact on your visibility, therefore safety.
Same as in the rain, we strongly recommend you to avoid hitting the road as it may be slippery.
It’s at your own risk.
Can I take the motorcycle on a ferry or transport it between states?
No, our insurance doesn’t cover this type of transport. In case anything happens you’ll be liable and will have to purchase a new vehicle.
In regard to interstate, the answer is yes. You can take the motorcycle between states. Please communicate us as we have do adapt your insurance if it’s the case and extra fees may apply.
Do I need to return the motorcycle with a full tank of fuel?
Yes, we ask that you return the bike with a full tank of fuel or same level as given. If not, a refueling fee will be applied.
Is a deposit required to rent a motorcycle?
Yes, a refundable deposit is required when renting a motorcycle. The amount will depend on the type of bike rented. This deposit is refunded if the bike is returned in same condition as given.
What documents do I need to rent?
You’ll need a form of ID, Valid motorbike Driver license and a credit or debit card.
What should I do in case of an accident?
Make sure no one is in danger or there are no life’s at risk, if so, call 000.
Our main concern is with customers, they’re health and safety.
If no life threatening situation, please obtain contact details of all parties involved in the accident and gather as much information as possible about the incident. Such: their phone number, driver’s license details, address photo os damages (both vehicles) and photos of the scene.
Also provide your contact details to all relevant individuals involved in the accident, including other parties and any authorities requesting them.
If any of the vehicles involved require towing, notify the Police immediately.
Contact us as soon as possible to report the accident. We will provide further instructions and assist you in handling the situation.
Please remember, your safety and well-being are paramount, so seek medical attention for any injuries sustained during the accident. Additionally, cooperating with the authorities and following proper procedures will help ensure a smoother resolution.
What should I do if the motorbike breaks down?
Your safety and convenience are our top priorities, and we understand the importance of reliable transportation. So, in the unfortunate event of a breakdown, please contact us, and we will swiftly work towards resolving the issue and getting you back on the road as soon as possible. Nevertheless, note that business hours might affect your response time.
Please take into consideration your insurance level chosen upon rental and its coverage. Also make sure the bike is in a safe a appropriate place meaning no harm to anyone.
What happens if the motorbike is stolen?
First thing to do is making sure motorcycle is nearby or have been moved / towed by a third party. If you suspect motorcycle got stolen you can get i touch with us via phone or Whatsapp. Please note that business hours might affect your response time.

Do I need my own insurance to rent a motorcycle?
Although our bikes are covered and you can also find further options for your peace of mind like Roadside / Breakdown Assistance and also Excess Reduction; can be a good option. In case you need to pay the insurance excess you can get a reimbursed from your insurance provider. Generally there is an option on your travel insurance as they might cover vehicle rentals as well. Although is NOT mandatory, it’s just a recommendation if you’re a traveller and like to be safe.
